Partner as in life partner ?
I am sure some conmen out there would lie to their partners about their jobs, but you have to be really dim not to be able to pick up on that. Either that or you really live truly seperate lives.
My life partner has no idea I really do nothing for a living as she things I'm a PHP developer turning out thousands of lines of code each day.
