Hi folks
I have been advised by a number of people to avoid MWEB for our fibre connection, at least at the moment, due to their whole peer issue. Neotel came up as a possible alternative. Has anyone any experience of Neotel fibre?

If available the NeoBroadband, is the best value for money:

5 Fibre to building 1Mbps R 1 600,00
5 Fibre to building 2Mbps R 3 050,00
5 Fibre to building 5Mbps R 5 100,00
5 Fibre to building 10Mbps R 8 200,00
5 Fibre to building 15Mbps R11 250,00

You get some SIP clients and fixed IP's in that as well and the speeds are attainable. If you want to play it safe work through someone like ARC Telecoms (www.arctelco.com) who specializes in SMME's connectivity, they are operator independent.

Do note that there is f-all support or guarantee on this service.. we have 3 connected offices and for atleast 3 days of the week we have terrible packet loss on a random link, all within the Neotel network.. so not even getting out onto the web... by the time we can get someone to look at it the problem no longer exists... It is very cheap though, yet I would not rely on it to host business critical services :-)

We're looking at getting three or four concurrent connections to prevent and downtime, but thanks for the heads up.

We are using the 2MB Fibre line at our offices. Most of the time it is stable and quite fast. Lately though (and Im talking about the last month) we had to, on 2 occasions, switch over to our capped ADSL Telkom line. Waited, I think, 9 days for a techy to come and fix the issue. 4 Days later, same story. But it is up and running now again. And when it's running we dnt have any issues. So def worth a try. Njoy

Recommend getting backup ADSL line with separate provider

still waiting on acrtelco to give me a ring back...
Neotel say 45 days for install, and that's with having a cable run right past the office...

jpmonster: could you run the speedtest to a London server please? would be great to see how Neotel's international backhaul performs.

Is there an update on how stable the service is, Creature you mentioned that it was quite bad in your post, how has it been since then?

Been waiting for over 3 months for somebody to install our neotel fibre. The manhole is across the road from our building

Has yet to be down in 5 months. There was a DNS issue for 2hrs a few months back, I think this affected all Neotel Users, but during that period we used Google Public DNS and things were fine.

Jagtiger: looks like they allow bursting, at 10mbit it probably completes the speed test before the traffic limit kicks in *shrug*

jpmonster - do you mind speedtesting to a server in London to get an idea of neotel's international links? Thanks!
