Is anyone actually getting any joy from PMing the cell c rep or posting in this thread? I had to send a second PM to Cell_C and later had to PM him again to try and find out whether he got the PM. I finally got a response from the Cell C rep a few days later with the TT number. Since then nothing. No mail, pm, sms, update, NOTHING. Seems like CellC is not interested in customer service. Using their website to contact them only leads to more silence. FAIL.
I was hoping CellC would give me reason to stay with them, not the case.
/End of rant
EDIT: just for the record Im still having issues with my modem showing that it is connected but incoming data (download) stays at 0kbps

Three times this week, today most recently, I've had the green light of death with barely any throughput at all. Speeds have also been rather slow at times.
As of June 16, this issue still occurs. I usually have some joy when I close the connection manager and restart it, or unplug the speed stick and plug in back in, and then reopen the connection manager. Then I have a 3G signal for about 30 - 45 minutes before it switches to EDGE.

Since Monday evening (18/06/2012) I've not had a steady connection. Modem light is blue/light blue, but no data comes through. MDMA and Cell C Connector software show that it's on "HSUPA" all the time - no WCDMA or HSDPA. Occassionally, I can connect for 5mins, but then it's lost again. Signal strength is a constant -69dBm.
The tower in question is AGAIN 14443 in Malvern East/Wychood. I'm currently only able to connect using EDGE via tower 61444.
I have reported this to Cell C, and have the following reference number: 2061903378.
At the moment (14:33 20/6/2012) I still have no 3G/HSDPA/WCDMA connection, only HSUPA! I had to post this using EDGE (fail).
I am also having a problem in the Oriel, Bedfordview area. The connectivity was good but after 19/6 I have not been able to connect my Cell C prepaid data card (2 GB per mnth). I bought the same card and computer to Sandton to work and it worked here, so I assume that it is a Cell C problem. Has anyone else had this problem? I did inform Cell C but they indicated they did not have problems. I have also emailed them.
I live up the road from you, and have had hell with this, too. Nothing wrong on Cell C's side (obviously), and I'm yet to get a response regarding my ticket. After trying all day (and everyday since Monday) I managed to get on for about an hour, and then the connection just froze again. Tower in question is yet AGAIN 14443!
PLEASE FIX THE PROBLEM!

For the last week I have had awful connection to Cell C. I connect at 100% signal strength to HSPA+ and when I can connect to websites it works brilliantly. But I keep getting timeout errors to the point that Cell C is now an unusable solution for me!
I live in Northwold, Randburg.
Still not fixed - its fine when its on EDGE - seems like you can get uploads and downloads, but you are knocked off every 10 min and have to wait sometimes up to 15 minutes for another connection. Its bad! When it goes onto WCDMA you cannot get an internet connection. Surely Cell C should fix this. I went into the Cell C shop in Eastgate and people were talking about it. Had my modem checked and its not that. Surely the Cell c rep can look at this - I am told they are working on it but its now some 6 days with no good connection!
I've switched providers after a week of no joy with Cell C.
So long and thanks for all the fish!
A little birdy in CellC tech support told me last night that CellC is aware of a major issue with Data connectivity on the East Rand and that the problem has been escalated to ICASA.
This was after I phoned them about 27 times in the past two days. I either wait forever (20min+) for a tech support person to answer, or when they do, the line mysteriously drops right after I explain my problem to them. (3 times out of the 5 that I got through to someone) Strange since it does not drop while I am holding for 20 minutes.
I would really like to know what is going on here as I have had useless data connections on the East Rand since around Feb 2012. It is connected but if any data moves and it doesn't just sit idle, I get pings anywhere from 4-180 SECONDS with about a 68% packet loss.
Now the guy could have been lying to me because he was to lazy to help but why am I getting the feeling that something terrible is going on with CellC in the East Rand and no one is honest about it?

For most of July, the speeds with Cell C have been rather appalling. The 3G signal is at 1 bar for most of the time, 2 tops. I set it in the connection manager so that it's UMTS only, seeing as I didn't like it switching to EDGE every few minutes. Some days it's all right, but a lot of the time it's painfully slow. Sometimes no throughput at all. It just hangs there and I have to reload the page - nothing.
My Cell C has been really poor of late :
It has been reported, but no joy so far.
This is actually not usable, so not sure what to do.
BTW, the quality of reception is good, it is just really poor throughput.
This is in Illovo, Joburg - think it is the St Davids tower.
