MickeyD, The guy on Morning Live 2 days ago said that the online forms are not allowed and that we have to personally go to the units to fill out the info.

2 years + about 12 months for camps....

I'm registering more as a "silent protest".

I am going to forward this to my older brother who was 6SAI Infantry as a National Serviceman in Grahamstown, who after basics spent the rest of his two years on the border.
Afterwards he became part of the Dukes which is part of RWP who called him up every year for camps, marches and just about any time they needed someone, for the maximum amount of days permissible by law at the time. They got him for every single day, with not even one to spare. I forget now, but after the initial two years, camps comprised a 10 or 12 year full cycle broken down into one and three month camps every two years. This did not include the odd one day march down Adderley Street. My brother was even in Zimbabwe in 1980 when they had their elections. They really messed his family life around, not to mention his career.

I am sure he would he a suitable candidate, I just don't think he would be interested.
You can take Telkom out of the Post Office but you can't take the Post Office out of Telkom.

They left me alone after 1991... and it was very frustrating as you struggled to get out of being called up for a camp. It really stuffed my career around, just as I was starting to climb the ladder.
