SANDF Military Veterans Registration

Hi all

Anyone know anything about registration for military veterans from the SANDF.

Apparently there was a discussion about it on Radio Algoa that I missed and I can't find out any info about it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Pre-1994 = SADF.

From what I understand, the governement has decided to give MK veterans a pension stipend. The DA raised a stink about it and now all ex MK or SADF members are allowed to register.

As a ex troopie for 6 years - a lump sum payout sounds nice.

I would presume this applies to permanent force members only... Not so sure there's enough "pension" money to go around for every national serviceman...

Any one have more info regarding "pensions" for servicemen who did only 2 years prior to 1994 ??

‘‘military veteran’’ means any South African citizen who—
(a) rendered military service to any of the military organisations, statutory and non-statutory, which were involved on all sides of South Africa’s Liberation War from 1960 to 1994;
(b) served in the Union Defence Force before 1961; or
(c) became a member of the new South African National Defence Force after 1994, and has completed his or her military training and no longer performs military service, and has not been dishonourably discharged from that military organisation or force;

Yes, BUT you will have to undergo a "means" test.
