    As I understand, Jackson is breaking it up into 2 parts (An Unexpected Journey + There and Back Again), with Smaug only appearing in the second movie in 2013. The 2 movies will be released a year apart, during holiday season, making the studio a gazillion dollars.

    This will probably be one of the very few movies I'll actually go watch in a cinema, looking really good.

    I just wish they were considerably less than a year apart :\

    Well hopefully he hasn't screwed this up like he did the second and third Lord of the Rings movies. Although those were nowhere near the appalling mess that was King Kong.
