I was pleased to find that the Telkom 'ADSL Availability and Speed Checker' web page https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/check.htm has been updated, and that my exchange (Parkview) has had its 10Mb line speed restored.
In celebration I spent two hours last evening calling every available Telkom ADSL support number in the vain hopes that I could have my line restored to its previous 10Mb. In the end I gave up - defeated - and logged a service call this morning.
The problem lies in the fact that the call-centre screens are only capable of setting a line to 4Mb ...
If anyone knows of a secret 'phone number that I can call I would apppreciate it ...
I now understand the meaning of Telkom's slogan 'partners for life': if you sign up (i.e. partner) with Telkom expect to have your lifespan severely reduced ...![]()
