Maybe give it some more time to 'learn' it's new environment... IIRC froyo is less resource intensive (in terms of things like cpu usage), which means that it'll give you a boost in battery... Those battery status thingies run from a simple algorithm.
Alternatively... you could have effed your battery up! Over-charging(above it's rates voltage), and leaving the battery to drop about 2 volts basically stuffs with some chemical doohickeys, and the battery loses capacity...
I'm new here...
Well, they are a lot better than they used to be... but unfortunately, li-ion batteries may have massive capacities, they just aren't as robust as say, car batteries.
you can discharge a battery to 0V, but the phone usually stops at just under 2V. Thing is, if they include proper sately limits, you'll be playing with about 50% of the phones full capacity.
I do suggest you check out whats running though... maybe you have a rogue app that lost it's marbles when you installed Froyo, because it looks like the two are connected!

Yay yay yay
My and my wifes Defy's arrived at 5PM this evening!
This thing so far looks pretty awesome! Will post update soon!
I've been able to upgrade for a couple of weeks now, and have been looking intently at android phones. I was originally looking at dipping a little further into my funds and getting a Desire HD for r250 on anytime 100, but the Motorola Defy has piqued my interest. Being able to save r120 a month is the main motivator here, especially considering that the DHD was at the top of my price range.
Despite the rather large differences between the two phones, I think that in terms of value for money, R130 a month for the Moto Defy seems to be the way to go.
Are there any downsides to the moto that haven't been mentioned before? Is the Motorola interface bothering anyone?
Looks like this phone is the king of the value phones. Went into cell c to look at it and will be getting one later in the year for the fiance.
Man the RBM is the king of smartphone contracts. When the hell is Vodacom gonna start competing?
She was thinking about the iPhone but after the endless badmouthing I have done about ios she doesn't want it anymore. Should save me a couple of hundred bucks a month.

Insert witty comment here...
I would have to say the moto blur interface is pretty irritating.I updated to FroYo earlier and did the hard reset.Must say I find the Moto very speedy now, because I wanted to complain about blurs impact on performance on 2.1 Eclair...
