From a quick read it looks like "NO" due to a limitation in the kernel, also looks like you are stuck on the kernel because of the a locked bootloader or something to that effect.

Ok guys I'm in desperate need of help. Got a really freaky problem. My audio on my defy is like way distorted. Sounds like a horror movie. The sound plays back in slow motion with static. Even callers can't hear me. I thought it might be the firmware so flash my stock firmware back on. Still the same. Thought it was the speaker but it does the same with headphones as well. All audio is messed up, the mic, the earpiece speaker and the loudspeaker. Don't know what to do. Spent hours googling a fix but nothing. Must have flashed my phone maybe like 10 times already.
Can I go straight to CM10 from the latest MIUI or do I have to flash the CM9 kernel first?
Ive downloaded CM10-20120730-NIGHTLY-mb525 and CM10-20120730-NIGHTLY-mb525.zip.md5sum. They carry on about red lenses and Green lenses and bricking phones if flashed with firmware that is not for red lens or vice a versa. I know I got Bayer lens which is red.
You won't brick your phone if you flash the wrong ROM with regards to the camera type. Worst thing that could happen is the camera might not work.
Theoretically you could go with a Defy+ ROM (and a Gingerbread kernel) as you have a Bayer lens, but then you would have to apply a battery fix as the MB525 battery differs from the MB526 battery. Easiest is just to stick to the CM10 MB525 build and flash the Froyo kernel, which is sometimes incorrectly referred to as "CM7 kernel". There really is no "CM7"/"CM9"/"CM10" kernel, only Froyo kernel for MB525/Defy and Gingerbread kernel for MB526/Defy+.
So to answer your first question - after flashing CM10 (for MB525), flash kernel-froyo-222-179-4-signed.zip.
Thanks for the info Viva.
I done the upgrade using the CM10-20120730-NIGHTLY-mb525. Everything went smoothly but when I restart the phone its in Aircraft mode for some reason. Also yesterday and this morning 3G wasn't working at all. But I don't know if that was maybe MTN.
Sup guys
I tried updating a Motorola defy this weekend. I opted to go for the official update option from the Motorola.com website, updating the phone from 2.1 eclair to 2.2 froyo.
Now here's the rub, for some reason unbeknownst to me the phone doesn't want to mount the sd card anymore. When I go to storage>mount sd card it says "preparing sd card" in the notification bar followed by "sd card safe to remove" almost as if I had unmounted it. This is really annoying as I cant enter the gallery, file manager or install a zip from recovery.
So, what are my options now to fix this?
