I'd stick with the Fortuner. Hyundai is going all out with their new vehicles but reliability over a long term is still questionable
    btw new Hilux looks nice:

Bugger, phoned the dealership. Best he could do is he doesn't know and I can hope for a cancellation. So now the choice is between the ix35 diesel manual, or the 2.4L auto. He says the people aren't into the full 4x4 thing, they all line up for the 4x2.

Dammit, will have to spent my money somewhere else then, but the other cars just doesn't talk to me, the KIA is nice, but also has a waiting list

try to put your name on the waiting list if you really keen, we had alot of people cancelling their orders and the consultant phoned us to see if we were interested to buy it. we had around 2 to 3 offers in the last month but we didnt like the colour and some were 4*4 and pricey. we wanted a specific colour so guess we'll be waiting a while

The 2.0 GLS is obviously in very high demand going by the secondhand values, examples with up to 35k km are going for almost the same price as a new one.

Subaru Forrester 2.5X models with about 40k km on the clock seem to have lost around R50k over the same time period

*Before I get flamed: I know this relates mainly to supply and demand, I'm not saying that one is better than the other...

Definitely, seems most people are like me, I want a soft-roader or crossover or whatever, I never go offroad, I have no need or urge to do so, but I do go places with dirt roads, and normal cars suck on dirt roads and this 4x2 2.0 is brilliant for that, but it seems I am in the majority, so very long waiting lists.

just got another offer for a 2.4L gls seems alot of people are ordering the top of the range petrol\diesel models and then cancelling when the car arrives... most dealer are now asking for deposit before they put you on the waiting list.

The only benefit of getting the 2.4 over the 2.0GLS is probably the extra gear(if it's a nice tall overdrive). Didn't think it was worth another R50k though.

That is my problem, R285k is just the right price, R 330k is a bit more than I would like to spent to it.
