    Default Local Webradio pilot

    http://196.2.125.122:8000/411

Local iBurst Webradio - give it a test!

The stream is 32 kb/s (working on the resolving sone bugs but should be stable)

You can enter the url http://196.2.125.122:8000/411 directly into VLC.

Listened to a couple of minutes through my iPhone (via my Iburst wifi) and it seems too be running fine. Will check again in peak times.

It will be so that it doesn't suck down mad data, and so the uncapped 64k guys can use.
    Insert witty comment here...

    32kb/s * 8 = 256kbps, so the uncapped VAS guys can't use it...

Why are you multiplying by 8?
    32kb/s = 32kbps.

Hahaha yeah, 32kb/p != 32KB/s :P The quality should be 64kbps at the very least IMO, else it sounds quite bad :/

Thirty-two kilobits per second audio stream, with a bit more added for overhead.

The idea is to eventually have multiple themed stations each with a music genre and a specific text to speech news feed. Any suggestions?

The quality sounds fine to me...

    This is so awesome!

Streaming it to my iPad and it works great!

How about a classical channel? (yeah yeah, but it's great for soothing little ones at bedtime)

too bad there wasn't any Kurt Darren playing
Some times the internet is so slow, it would be faster to just fly to Google's headquarters and ask them this $h1t in person.!

It is only 15 MB an hour... (if my maths is right?)

There are many ideas for this channel but basically if you can't sustain the channel then you are in a *** coverage area and forget about VoIP!

I've got a high quality sound system hooked up to my pc, maybe that's why I can hear the difference in sound quality :P Sounds almost the same as when children walk around with music blaring out of their phones

Hows about 1 classical stream, 1 alternative stream, one jazz & blues stream and then one dance/house/drum and bass stream.

I know the alternative and dance/house/drum and bass streams will go over well with the gaming community.
