Performance today? Anyone still on WA or have you switched to your backup?

Intermittant short outages this morning
This is related to the Google Caching Outage which is putting more load onto our upstream links.
Maybe time for WA to buy a 2nd 56K modem....
Hello Jeff,
A string of us are complaining about various problems and asking for feedback. So are you saying that this is all related to Google caching outage? I am sure not, but the more you do not just give us honest feedback on what are the problems, the deeper you dig yourself and WA into the ground.
Jeff, WARoop or someone from WA, we really would appreciate some feedback on why there have been so many problems of late and when we can expect decent connectivity again. I do not think this is too much to ask.
Thanks in advance
Google services will be slow, and as a side affect - more load would be put on our links.
I wouldn't post something up that isn't the truth, we should all know by now that it's not the way I roll
As I've mentioned above, because of the caching service is down - this affects the following:
- Slow Google services (primarily)
- Because caching is down, this causes more load on our other links - both local and international
- Instead of pulling content from the cached server, more data needs to be transferred across our upstream links, causing slow traffic
Problems as of late - I'm aware of the NNTP issue earlier on in the week and this issue. Outages happen from time to time, but by no means has our network been down and out for the past month. What issues have you experienced, apart from isolated incidents related to DSLAM's, exchanges and issues out of WA's hands completely.
Thanks for the feedback Jeff. Maybe because I am not tech savvy, I can't see how this one issue can be the cause of all the various problems
As this thread has made quite clear, I am by no means the only person with problems. I do appreciate that some of my specific issues might be out of WA hands, but just go through the thread and you will see a string of people who are saying there are issues. By asking me what are my problems, you are ignoring all the others who have posted. I do feel that we have made it clear that there are issues with speeds, connectivity, news servers etc. Please could you address these or are you awaiting feedback on them all? Thanks a lot
sc2 and wow down again on Webafrica......starting to get annoyed
Also had problems connecting to my game server yesterday evening. Switched to Afrihost and no problems.

By no means am I ignoring anyone elses posts. Simply put, the Google caching issues affect all traffic. This was already mentioned in this post
By all traffic I mean browsing, gaming, p2p etc etc etc.
For more up-to-date updates please have a look at our status page thread. Our engineers are updating this with some feedback too.

Unfortunately the issue has returned after the box had finished it's re-sync.
news server speeds are still non existent - using both Astraweb and NewsDemon.
This is really frustrating, seeing that at 5pm it literally increases from 0 KB/s to 400 KB/s.
In light of the google caching issue, it almost seems as if news groups are given zero bandwidth.
Thanks Jeff.
As I have said, and you know I am not a tech person, so need some clarity.
There have been a variety of issues for a while now and if I am reading this right, they are all related to the google caching issue, and when it is sorted, all should be good again? If this is the case, and it has being going on for ages, how much longer before we can hope for normality and good connectivity etc?
If this is just a current issue, I go back to the question that has been asked a few times. Why so many issues with WA and degradation of service levels of late and when will things be back to normal?
I apologise if I am a bit slow on this matter but really do want things back to the much better levels of a while ago.
Been having quite a lot of spikes on my international connection since Thursday evening. And quite a number of disconnects on World of Warcraft due to this. This happening more frequently when the game requires more data packages to be send. Run a speedtest on the line and though Latency is fine at 220ms to Paris, download seems to be way under par (~2.1mb) and Upload even worse at (~0.1mb). Tests were the same on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, have not tested it Today yet.
Switched to my Afrihost account on Saturday and at least the connection were stable from there on. The latency on the Afrihost account is never as good as WA, but at around 330ms with no spikes I was able to enjoy the weekend's gaming. Upload were closer to the 4mb line capacity, though download were only slightly better than WA.
But the reason I pay WA way more than any other ISP were not existent since Thursday, I pay for a premium service to have the best possible gaming experience. I hope this can be sorted out as soon as possible, paying a second ISP to keep on playing is not a long term option.
One thing I don't understand on the slow Google services, Google services is global, not fixed to WA? So why does Afrihost not have the same problem?
