Unfortunately no ETR has been provided as yet, however I can assure everyone that this is not a Web Africa network specific outage, but rather SAT3.
See #2108 for details, continued updates are also being provided on our forums

EDIT: Seems to be affecting Afrihost too http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/5...-problems.html

Downloads still busted. Can't even download a 100K file.

If browsing was broken early this morning when not so many people were on I can just imagine how totally broken it will be now seeing everyone is awake and trying to use the internet.

Update: According to RSAweb, the outage on SAT-3 will only be restored on Sunday, 1 July 2012.
Nice. Glad I'm not with WA.

    It's not a WA-specific issue though...

RSAweb isn't indicating any ETA's in the above link.

My Afrihost account is just as useless atm, so definitely not a WA issue.

Your point being? WA and Afrihost customers are both affected. I wouldn't want to be either right now.

Also, don't you have a backup plan in place for something like this?

Openweb is supplying business bandwidth for their home uncapped users.

What's WA going to do to compensate for the issues their home uncapped users are experiencing?

So things will probably return to normal fairly soon.

I doubt migrating Home users over to Business accounts will solve the issues, as it'll degrade everyones experience.

I wasn't telling you to move users to other accounts, I was asking if WA is doing anything to help out customers suffering issues. It was a simple question.

Anyone else notice how snappy and short-tempered Jeff has become lately? And not just with those of us needling him, but with customers as well? Are they overworking you at WA, Jeff?

I've become short tempered? Really? Not that I've noticed....
Anyway, it's been a really busy day - so today my posts have been a little shorter and to the point.

We've done a lot already to sort our customers out. As mentioned in other threads, we've acquired additional capacity on our fail-over links and been in constant communication with everyone - on a lot of platforms

Additional capacity for our fail-over international links have been brought online, so improved international experiences should be improved. Let us know
The repair ship is still en route, unfortunately a fix won't be able to be implemented tonight, hopefully tomorrow!

Try playing the Ball, not the man... I'd like to see you keep a sense of humour when faced with a barrage of complaints day-in and day-out... Jeff may be the representative here, but he's not responsible for some idiot cutting a cable in half with his tractor/ship. I'm certain you think you're very funny with your chirps, but actually you're not. There are a lot of us affected by what happened, but few stoop as low as you to get personal, and then try and hide it behind emoticons. Give the guy a break - try be an iBurst customer and see how that pans out. They don't even bother replying.
Keep up the good work, Jeff - I appreciate it, for one.
