Telkom prepaid Waya-Waya discontinued

Prepaid Waya-Waya is (was) the service where you pay an annual line rental of about R140. Calls are about 15% more expensive then.

Telkom has quietly discontinued new applications for Waya-Waya as from 1 August 2011. This was confirmed by a supervisor who said they got an email that the Waya-Waya profile has been removed from the system and new activations/orders are no longer possible.

They couldn't say what was happening to existing subscribers. If we will be migrated to the normal prepaidfone plan then it would mean that our line rentals would be going up from about R10 per month to R70 per month. That is a 700% increase

I switched to Neotel prepaid, no monthly bill at all, and the calls are cheaper than postpaid Telkom!
I can recommend their service.

Wish I could port my Telkom number to Neotel prepaid. Currently its not possible.

Was just told the same.

No confirmation as to existing customers.

this is totally unacceptable i am sure they suppose to inform you of such change in writing, but i wouldnt support telkom @ r70 per month with no fee minutes

Mine too, I don't want to load "airtime" now cause I will cancel if I'm migrated.
