RSAWEB reduces ADSL access prices

im confused?they reselling telkoms adsl lines at a loss?what am i missing?

No, the way I understand it is they are reselling the Telkom ADSL lines that they bought wholesale, but without the margin. So its less selling at a loss than it is selling with no profit.

In before "unsustainable" article :P

This is a good start but i can't help wonder if they know something we don't

Lets see if other ISPs take notice :)

Just checked it out, you must buy at least a gig with it, which brings the price of the 384 + 1 gig to R158 a month, R9 more than cybersmart ...

Instead of "free gigs" they just tell you they start cheaper ....

We onto you RSAWEB ;)

so can anyone from any exchange call rsaweb and get signed up

Are they going to bring down my attenuation from 52 to something more reasonable?!?!? The first company that is going to shorten my LL so that I can make use of my 10Mbs/4Mbs will get my bucks.

Lucky you got 10Mbs/4Mbs

Yip, I would wait for the other ISP's to join in.

Not sure how "safe" it is to move the ADSL line over. Could be troublesome to move it again.

Moving your ADSL line is a lot easier than it was in the old days.
When I moved mine I didn't even know that it happened until RSAWEB told me it had happened.

RSAWEB is NOT cheaper than Telkom . Even without considering the doubled cap for the last 3 months (ie 20GB for the same price), what about the 30GB of free local data (which I do manage to use till its finished using clever traffic splitting). So for the last 3 months i've been getting 50GB for the usual Telkom ISP fee (R238). So thats R6 per GB (or R5 per GB when the special is over)

You do understand what this article is about right? ADSL access != ADSL data.

No loss of internet?

No loss at all, its a common misconception that transferring = downtime.
It's just a billing/ownership update between Telkom & the ISP.

I've moved 3 times now.

"we do not offer the line rental on our uncapped services as yet, only our capped data packages"

That is a deal-breaker for me.

Axxess : 384 line = R139 + 1gb R19 = R158
SAWeb : 384 line = R129 + 1gb R29 = R158

:D

Axxess : 384 line = R139 + 1gb R19 = R158
SAWeb : 384 line = R129 + 1gb R29 = R158

:D

Comparing apples with apples:

Axxess : 384 line = R139 + 1gb R39 = R178 (R19 is for the Lite option)
RSAWeb : 384 line = R129 + 1gb R29 = R158

;)

Same here, although if I keep my uncapped with my current ISP, and just get a 1Gb deal here, it will still work out better to get the line through RSAweb.

Does anyone know if you can still have telkom Closer if your ISP handles payment for the ADSL access?

My Opinion

I've moved 3 times now.

I on the other hand waited for 3, yes 3, months for Web Africa to transfer my line back to Telkom. And yes my account with them was and still is in credit. Will never use them again.

So you were lucky moving 3 times, I had difficulty moving 2 times:D

I am not aware of any method that I (you) can follow to get your line back to Telkom from a ISP if they for some reason do not do it. Getting your line under their "control" give them a possible lever to prevent you from moving away from them. The longer they drag their feet the more likely you will deside its too much trouble to move anyway ....... and then you dont. Ever heard the saying: "Its not worth the bother" So for most Joe soaps the ISP got a captured clientele;)

It happened to me, there is no reason for the ISP to hold the line, but ones request just does not happen. Telkom just pull their shoulders up and say they can do nothing.

Like I said before, as little as I like it, and since I have no choice in the matter, my line stays with Telkom, or with some other provider that might happen before I die:)
