I see www.CODP.co.za has a 25% off all courses booked and paid for at the EXPO.
Generally it seems there are bargains on most things so long you dont mind checking the prices all over the place.

It does seem to be the Nikon and friends Expo, The NIKON stand is Huge, the SONY stand was full of SONY and I might have even seen one or two non employees on the stand, I think they were lost :P

I will be back on SUnday, loads of workshops I want to attend and the horrible thing is they all seem to be on Sunday, I dont know why ...

I was a bit miffed at R15 for parking over and above R80 for entry, so I parked at Northgate and walked.

I will say look inside you Yellow bag and use the back page of the Expo Booklet, its the "map" to help you figure out whats where ... it is really helpful to find some of the smaller stalls.

The only opinion I have so far is that is is much to see and I am now to broke to buy anything else, and there are many workshops going on ... heck while there 2 workshops were in progress.

What a waste of time. I bought a few things but overall I wasn't impressed.

You should be looking at the 1.4 anyway.

    I'd give you my 50 1.8 for R500 if I could get a really good price on a second hand 50 1.4.

After reading the feedback on the expo I'm in two minds on spending a decent amount of time there tomorrow, the only real draw for me are the workshops, not really sure what the show specials are but have prepared my card for a beating just in case.

Looking to pick up a 60D/7D, new camera bag and some glass, I just hope stands have stock.

Here's the Nikon specials. They're ok. I got a 2X teleconverter rather than a 70-300 lens. Don't know if I did the right thing. There were a few worthwhile Manfrotto specials also.

I thought the expo was tiny, especially for the R80 entrance plus R15 parking plus R plenty for travel time and petrol. The talks seemed good, but there were some seating issues and there wasn't much to entertain yourself with between sessions. Also, Playboy could have supplied more (and better quality) bunnies for their stand.

Yea - not that great ... lack of Canon products :/

One of stores I asked about their Canon lens specials was R4,000.00 for a 50mm 1.4 and R1,400.00 for a 50mm 1.4 - both considerably more than Orms. Their 7D was R13,995 though ....

    Such pricing disparity

It all depends on what you're using the 2x with.

    Upgraded my D3000 to a D7000 today
Got home and it turns out the sigma 18-250, I bought last year doesn't work on the D7000 (f-- error)
So now I only have a 18-55 VR kit lens and a 35/F1.8 - Considering I'll need a new zoom, this upgrade is gonna cost me much more than I planned.

I'm using it with a F/2.8 70-200mm, so the quality should be OK, but I just thought, the 70-300 has a zoom range that goes wider, is lighter and is just a good optically (I think), but mostly it's because the 70-200 stands out, and the 2x converter will make it even more obvious, whereas the 70-300 is a lot more subtle and won't mark me as "a professional". Also, I've never quite got used to hanging that much cash from my neck, in public places nogal - I could take the 70-300 to the beach and not look like a douche. On the other hand, I could use the doubler with the 400mm F/2.8 if I ever got one, which I won't, because I don't need it. Well I've got it now, so time will tell.

I'm going on holiday today, and I'm not taking the 70-200 or the doubler, but I think I would have taken the 70-300 if I'd got that. Oh well.
