So the announcement was made without the CEO's approval?

Can the lies go any further? How can such an announcement be made without his knowledge?

Vodacom is really making us out to be complete and utter retards...

How do they know users are downloading large files if everything is encrypted?

I reckon KEEP the throttling .... just UP it to what people want

The solution is simple, I think?

We'll all be happy with never hitting the cap and faster speeds.
The abusers will be unhappy and leave
Vodacom will be happy because even with a 2GB cap, they'll reduce traffic by massive amounts

    Win for all?

A person/company with a guilty conscience will keep on trying to explain over and over why they were doing something for the good of the other person/consumers.

So, Uys, shut up! Your company has done all it can to paint itself all bad. Now suffer the consequences!!

Good news Vodacom, the number of people moving to other networks should alleviate some of the strain. That's what you wanted, right?

I wouldn't have believed that an announcement could go out without the CEO's approval a few months ago but I'm slowly starting to think it may be possible .

Vodacom's communication to the public has failed so horribly over the last few months (especially during that huge network outage) that nothing surprises me lately.

I don't think they are lying I think it's just sheer incompetance to communicate effectively. Not sure which is worse .

The other providers will be unhappy as they'll get the abusers. And the problems that comes with it.

All I got from this fiasko is Vodacom will treat you like an abuser even if you use the product you paid for legititately as stipulated in your contract with them.
Uys practically had his tounge sliding up our virtual backsides while retracting to show 'how much they care for their customers' but everyone saw the truth is they don't.
We're just irritating little piggy banks for them, running around and squealing way too much to be easily broken into.

So identify the users that are abusing the service 24/7 and end the contracts... Everyone that matters wins.

Assuming that is true if the other providers are smart about it and throttle at a reasonable limit - say for example 5gb - the impact should be negligible. At 4mb per day I was going to be treated as an abuser and that's enough for me to switch. Vodacom handled it badly and if they suffer the consequences then though luck on them.
