Thread: Is there any contract phones with a 720p video camera?

Default Is there any contract phones with a 720p video camera?

So, I wanted to get this:
    http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/Dea...l+per+min+bill
But vodacom didn't wanted to give it to me cause it's on a business call contract, and apparently I only qualify for a topup. Soooo crap *eye role*

So, I need to find another phone now... My two main features that I'm after, is 720p video camera, and secondly... it must be android.
Also, preferably with a 5mp camera or higher.

The NEO was perfect... but now I can't get it.... so sad. Can anyone recommend a phone to me? It can be on any network... even 8ta. I don't care... I'm so sick of vodacom right now, I won't mind to leave them.

The closest to what I could find so far is the Nokia N8, but aside from it's awesome photo and video quality, it seems as if the rest of the phone is pretty crap.... it runs on symbian, and according to a video on youtube... it lags a lot and has a crap keyboard.

    Any suggestions?

Samsung Galaxy S II. Awesome camera, Android, 8Mp I think. 1080p, nevermind 720p.

Most of the high end ones will do it - iPhone 4, Galaxy S, N8 etc.

The Galaxy S2 will do 1080p, but keep in mind that you will quickly run out of storage at that resolution.

Well the cheapest one you would get is probably the HTC Desire. It only has 720p video camera from froyo onwards, but I think it comes out with gingerbread by now so you should be good. Its free on the topup 135 on vodacom I think. 5MP camera

Then there is the Samsung Galaxy S, might have to pay in some extra money on this. Like the Desire, but just has a better screen. Faster graphics card and a few other things.

Don't know what else you would get on a top up though.

Oh CellC has the RBM HD package, which comes with 200 minutes, 100 SMSes, 500MB data for R249 pm. The RBM HD also does 720p recording.

As I understand it there's no such thing as not being elligible since upgrading is basically just signing a new contract and you can sign any contract you like. Try going to a different Vodacom affiliate shop if the one you're at isn't willing to deal.

I know it might not change your mind coz you want the android but those problem are all sorted on the n8 (with Anna update)
Some times the internet is so slow, it would be faster to just fly to Google's headquarters and ask them this $h1t in person.!

My understanding of the situation is that this was for a new contract (and a new account...not a existing client doing a add on line). When we vet clients the system will assign a portoflio to the client's ID number. Each portfolio consists of a bundle of tariffs that the client qualify for. If your credit rating or income is not enough then you will either be declined (mostly people that is blacklisted etc)...or you will be assigned a lower profile instead of declining you. This will then allow you to build up a credit record with Vodacom and this portfolio will then be upgraded as you move along and you pay your bill ontime etc etc.
Now why you loer en kyk gelyk?

Not exactly. Symbian and Android are both completely different operating systems, so in order for an app to come for both Android and Symbian, it has to be written from the ground up to support both. There are lots of apps that are available on both platforms, but the Android Market is larger and has more apps available.

Also Symbian is reaching the end of its life - Nokia is transitioning to basically making only Windows phones. But Google is always going to make Android. Google makes Android and allows other manufacturers, such as HTC and Samsung, to use it.

Yep comparitvely yes android has way more apps then symbian, but you should ask yorself would you use them?
See i took the n8 since at the time it was the only phone that caterd for what i needed. before any fanboys go all hay wire i said at the time
Now If your main purpose of using the phone is you want a realy good hd camera with a phone thats available on a contract which you can aford i have to say get the n8 - on the apps specifically for camera and editing ther are tons not to mention thers the beta camera upgrade thats out that is excelent from what i read.

But if you want a phone that you going to use for a while and will be making use of app, maybe look at spending more on the HTC desire hd

Could be the case I guess since my family has been with Vodacom since 1997. So they basically don't deny us anything.

I guess I have to agree with isie in a sense - go for the best phone, not the best operating system. If the N8 has the best camera, then go for it.

What I'd recommend you do is start reading a site called www.gsmarena.com

They have reviews for all of these phones, including detailed camera and videorecording reviews. I'd read a few of the reviews there to get an idea which phone would suit your needs and budget best.

All you N8 recommending people do remember that it's Nokia's current flagship right? For most looking for a midrange phone the C7 would be the more likely option that comes into view.
