Default HELP: MTN Data contract (How to view data balance)

So I got a 2gb data contract with my Samsung P7500, but seeing as no data counter work with Honeycomb 3.1, is there another way of checking my usage? I've tried registering on the MTN website, but they require that you enter some #xxxxxx# code for authentication, but the tablet doesnt have a dialer pad

Go to http://www.mtn.co.za/MyMTN/MyInterne...s/default.aspx register with the number of your tablet it will send you a verification SMS , and then click on my internet link to to check your balance
I saved the Lin on my tab so I can check it when ever I want :-)

Tried this, but it asks me to input a code on my phone/tablet. Without a dialler, that's not something I can do...

This is under discussion in a similar thread under the MTN section. I wish there were pills to heal stupidity and incompetence that we can buy and forward to MTN. I showed them at there offices here in Cape Town that there is problem ... they offer a 2GB/m data product on a tablet without the user able to get data usage stats. They then gave me an app to load and that didn't work either (after I told them it won't work). The answer I then got was that it will be taken up with Samsung ... and I'm still waiting for a solution. What a sad bunch.

I've reactivated my MTN Active account five times already and when I tried to get one earlier today my password was reset yet again. It's a never-ending battle. No wonder they are not active here any more. Best to run away and hide when you don't have answers.

Which app did they suggest? 3G Watchdog seems to work for me but my concern is that I have no way to check it against MTN's numbers. I don't get how they can be so reticent in setting up self-help options - surely it's way more cost effective than having to interact directly with people? Or are they just so efficient in scalping us that they don't really care about that?

I guess you will have to do this only once

This is a great idea. My bad for having an iPhone 4, then, with its micro-sim! Will have to wait until I get home so that I can use wifey's phone, I guess...

I searched app market for an app that allows dialing came up with Nothing
So until mtn gets round to making a system that works (they keep insisting mtn active gives you data usage, which it clearly doesnt) or google alows dialing on honeycomb (aperently ice cream sandwich will work on tablets and allow dialing but thats still a whiles off )
unfortunatley this is what we have to do

Did you test the app to verify that it reports correctly? I will be surprised if it does as there seem to be a hardware/OS issue with the P7500 that messes with the 3G data readings.

It does, but under the "Unbilled" section. Took me a while to figure that one out. The numbers reportes on mine seems wrong and I've queried MTN but hasn't received any response yet. MTN is getting this all wrong. Too complex. Too limited. Not 2011.

Tried this trick but it didn't work, I kept getting a service timeout error. Ah well, back to the drawing board...
