Still on a Core2Duo with 2GB RAM. Got a ATI HD7870, so with a proper CPU (looking at Ivy-Bridge i5 with around 16GB RAM) I should get around 40+ avg FPS on Ultra where at the moment I'm anywhere between 20-60 on Low depending on how many grenades are popping.
Your CPU is bottlenecking the GPU. Good idea to get a i5-2500k or the Ivy-3570k. 8GB DDR3 should be enough.
Yeah, but RAM is so cheap nowadays I just want to hit 16GB 2400CL10 straight off the bat and OC a bit. The main reason I want to go Ivy-Bridge is also to check out Virtu-MVP, looks like an interesting way to approach V-Sync, especially if I'm going to chuck another 7870 in later.
I really don't notice the difference when I had just my 2x4 Corsair Vengeance RAM and now that I have the 2x4 and 2x2 Corsair Vengeance RAM (12gig total).
Wow surprised you can play at all with that RAM :/
