Default iBurst USB Modem and Windows 7

Finally, kicking and screaming, switched across to Windows 7 yesterday. Now I have one of the original flat USB modems, wasn't certain which driver to use because the website refers to 'newer models', but anyhoo, went off and got the thing running - unexpected development, though: I can connect and speed seems more than adequate, but the modem lights don't activate at all. Looks as dead as the proverbial doornail, yet seems to be working fine. Anyone else have this?
