    Question Please help!!

    Hi there!!

I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I wanna get a internet connection, but htere is no 3G coverage, nor ADSL in my area.

What other high speed options are there except, for 56 dailup.

Does Satelite internet still exist....and would anyone recommend it?

    Thanks!
    Francois

    From a UK Satellite company

We certainly can and can offer download speeds from 512kb/sec to 2mb/sec - costs start from 1500 for the hardware and from 64 per month.

Where abouts in cape town are you? So we can get a better idea of what type of data coverage you may have

Iburst is also in cape town

The only SAT provider in SA is Telkom, it's slow 256k down and 64k up... sometimes you get 256k, but most of the time you get less than 56k... the hardware cost is R3600 IIRC... The monthly is also steep, R800 for the small package (1GB Cap) and it's all on a 3 year contract.

I would rather get 2 paper cups and a piece of string...

Iburst or Sentech would probably be your only other options... they're not great but they're certianly better than 56k or Sat.

That was the point, yes you can get it, but at a price - monthly cost is fine, but hardware cost is way out for me

I am not in Cape town anymore.

I now live in Prince Albert (little town, middle of nowhere). I use to have 3G in cape Town, it worked fine, but now thats gone, I I'm sitting with GPRS and I'm looking for something else, something faster.

BTW, what happened to stuff like Siyanda....or what was it called again?

Prince Albert, sheesh, shame man, what made you move out there?

I think ISDN might be your only hope
