I am using one of the nightlys now. WAY better than stock / Nova. So far i have not had any bugs with it.

Still stock. I'm waiting to see what developments will take place now that Ice Cream Sandwich has been released. There is some talk on the XDA forums that someone is planning on cooking up an ICS ROM for the Optimus Black so I may hold out for that if it isn't too far away. I know this is all speculative but apparently an improvement in battery life is expected which I'm really excited about.

whats the easiest way to back up my phone (stock rom, apps etc) before I root/flash??
basically so i can revert to stock if i have any problems...

Try one of the CM 7 nightly builds. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER go back to a stock ROM again .

I play by the "If it ain't broke..." rule. I have no issues the the stock rom. Will upgrade when/if we get a stable ICS release.

I'm interested in this too. Will probably need to revert back to stock rom if there are any problems while the phone is still under warranty.
