    Neotel eyes retail growth with new products | TechCentral

    Its been two months since this article appeared on TechCentral.

    Wonder how much longer we must wait for the Neotel Consumer WiMax offering.

    And nearly a year later Neotel is apparently ready to launch their Consumer Wimax uncapped product, or so I was led to believe when I popped in at their store at N1 City this morning.

    Installation will be a once of R500, which includes a WiFi router, and the equipment remains the property of Neotel.

    512kbps uncapped line will cost R500pm while the 1Mbps uncapped line will be R750.

    I did not ask about higher speeds, so lets wait for the announcement, whenever that will be.

    Why is WIMAX so slow here? Cousin in Belgium has Wimax to her apartment and gets 10mb/sec. Pays €28.00 a month, also uncapped. Router was free and has wi-fi, setup was €20.00

    I have a Neoconnect Prime Phone and was offered the WiMax uncapped option. Is it worth moving as it will be cheaper but with a slower connection. Im paying R919 for uncapped at the moment and the Prime according to me should have faster speeds?

    I have Wimax 2mbit and it runs at 2 mbits down 99% of the time Up runs at about 1,5 mbits to sometimes 2.2 mbits. Only had one problem when aerial whent out of alignment - they fixed it within a day.
    I'm very happy - it is uncapped, unshaped etc.

    rph72_Business I think because I get support from their Business people (was about a year ago). I can't remember when I got it - think it was about 2 years ago. They converted my Prime to wimax. It is great, although only 2mbit, I get that speed consistently.

    I still have my Prime phone (working) and I used it for data when the wimax was down (@ capped rate)

    @Zanadu - How much do you pay for the 2Mbps - R1,699??

    I cannot believe they are stalling with the launch of their Consumer Wimax Product.
