It's very weird, upon pinging the servers IP address in CMD, the ping appears fine (sub 50ms). However when ingame and on the server the pings sky rockets to 600 latency/ping, sometimes even goes to 4600ms. The ping on CMD however remains constant. Ie. It is only on net_graph / scoreboard that my ping appears high, and of course I can't play with such lag.

Very weird problem. It isn't just my computer as other computers in the house have the same issue when trying to play a source game. Wondering if there is a small chance that somebody else is having this problem.

Also, forgot to mention, but as soon as I switch to a capped Axxess account, the problem goes away. Meaning it is directly a problem with my IS account from Openweb.
Hey having very similiar problems over the last few days, mine isnt localised to Steam games though. Currently getting between 1200-3000ms ping on european game servers (dota 2, old republic).

Pingtests to euro servers have packet loss failure but a ping of 215 (its what im used to) and http speeds and torrenting run fine... So whats the story?

Sigh.. my account has degraded so much over the last 2 months, that it's ridiculous (considering i havent had net for almost 1 month due to telkom cable theft and mix ups with the lines.)

so at about 1:30AM i do a speed test.. http://www.speedtest.net/result/2123969995.png

did a speed test immediately after with my mweb uncapped-shaped account.. http://www.speedtest.net/result/2123977500.png

^^ when i reported this issue 2 days ago, I was told it was my telkom line by Keoma. Telkom assured me the line is 100% fine and after testing with the mweb account, I confirmed that.

I'm trying to download windows updates atm (just re-installed.. win8 sucks, back to win7 :P), and it goes at 32KB/s on my @openweb account whereas im getting 420KB/s on my mweb account...

not happy with this at all for a 'premium service'

    Hi psychosis,

As explained to you via email, this is not an account fault. I do believe however based on your reply that after resetting your port with Telkom, your problem was resolved.

    yes mrBEEP, it was resolved.

But that IS account is terrible once again today. This time it definitely is not my line, BCS performing at roughly 200KB/s on http/youtube, yet this IS account barely does 50KB/s

Switch to mweb account however and I max out 4mbps on http/youtube. This is becoming tiresome and I'm starting to wonder why I am paying extra for this account. BCS works when it wants to and any IS account I switched to was almost impossible to use. If you don't mind, I would like to try out DSL-H again cause from what I remember DSL-H used to be really good when I used it aside from the slightly higher gaming pings.

I am now connected to your IS account and it is running at 521KB/s on a 4Mbps line. I will now test it in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban and provide feedback shortly.

I have now studied your session log, and have found in an hour, your ADSL line lost sync to the exchange 6 times.

I am now connected to our Cape Town test line using your account. The line is 6Mbps, and I am downloading at 524KB/s on a 4Mbps account. I will fire up a torrent and provide the results shortly

Yes it lost sync 6 times due to me switching between DSL accounts (netgear resyncs upon entering new dsl details). I am back on BCS and it seems fine.. other than some screwy http speeds now and then.

I have even tried my D-Link DSL-2750u router to no avail. I am not a hater of your service and I have referred multiple friends to you, but I cannot understand how between MWEB and that IS account you gave me, I get max speed on mweb for BASIC HTTP downloads whilst on IS i could not even download Dota2 on steam @ above 50KB/s.

I will switch once again to this IS account and provide feedback in an hour.

Seems like the account is performing pretty decently now. Youtube is a bit slow but its much better than before and I'm getting about 100KB/s on some HTTP stuff (400+ with download manager). Thanks MRBeeP. I just hope it stays like this :-P

I would love to give a speedtest result but won't even measure.

IS has been really bad lately.

Even a local speedtest yields .21mbps download speed.

    YES

bbc.co.uk/news videos don't work, neither does twitch.tv. Any youtube video not chached locally you can forget about

HTTP downloads and torrents maxing out my line easily though, pings to games servers 8ms.... weird.

    Any ideas Mr. Beep?
