Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection 5.5 review

Adobe adopt a new release structure and a new cloud subscription service, but all it results in is the release of half a product selling at a full price.

I hear this a lot, and as a purchaser of Photoshop, I don't really think so - we get it for our graphics guys at work. Every few years you have to spend a fraction of their salary to give them the latest tools that make them far more productive.

Remember these are professional tools. You can't compare it to consumer packages like Paint Shop Pro and Gimp - you have to understand that the money you pay for Photoshop will pay itself back in productivity and quality of work in no time at all. .

Which is a fair point - but then people should opt for buying specialized packages that include PS, or simply buy PS itself; buying the entire Creative Suite only makes sense if you need to make use of the entire contents. That's something that only people in the industry do.

And if you're in the industry that utilizes the entire package efficiently - chances are the price isn't that bad.

It's difficult to do package reviews like this - especially when the contents are so diverse and varied and could potentially be important or plausible for any given range of buyers.

Yes indeed, if you're a creative house which uses even half of the packages, R25k is DIRT cheap for what you're getting. Chances are you'll be paying R100k+ per month for the people using the packages.

When looking at software purchases for business, I find it puts it into perspective if you work it out as a % of the salary of the people using them. Time is money, and good software saves time.
