Hello Jarrid. Not exactly sure if you want to use the dongle or wifi...but here goes.

    1. Plug in the modem...wait a little bit. Then look on your top panel right cnr...click on the network manager. You should see a option "Setup Up New Mobile Broadband". Select that and then simply follow the prompts. Once it is setup...the network name will appear in your network manager everytime you click on the network manager icon.

    2. With Wifi...most Wifi cards should work out of the box. Make sure your wifi is enabled. Click on the network manager again. The available wifi networks should appear there. Select the one you want and enter the pass key. It should now connect. It should now log on to this wifi network everytime you switch on your laptop.

thanx for the feedback. will try it out when get home later.

with regard to the wifi network/internet sharing.

would like internet sharing from the laptop (turned into desktop as the screen is bust) that has ubuntu on it where the 3g dongle would be running on. from the laptop the internet must be shared to the rest of the wireless network (wifi).

Oh boy...I dont know how to share a wifi network. That will have to be left to the boys. I suggest you post your question here for the wifi share:

Just dont make loud noise or sudden movements. The guys there dont get out much of their CenTOS server rooms and aint used to human interaction. You might scare them to death.
