    Default Gaming Laptop Recomendations

    Hello Everybody.

Before I begin Id just like to introduce myself to the forum I'm Neosteve and have been a regular reader on mybroadband for a long time and decided to join up today and break my silence

I was a vivid gamer back in the day and use to play Counter Strike Source, Team Fortress 2 and EVE Online a long time ago.

Long Story Short, I need your help to get me back into the word of Gaming now that I have time.

I need Recomendations on the best gaming laptop for my price range of 15k to 20k and where I could get it from?
I want to start playing BF3 and COD3 online so I need a laptop that can handle those games nicely

Thanks for the advice I greatly appreciate it.

msi gx 740 for 11k odd

of the new gt780 with gtx 570m, which is better then hd 5870m , but goes for 21k

or the msi with gtx 560m is good buy , because it takes 2 drives etc, not as powerful as the gtx 570m , but still packs a punch.

the first laptop will play all games on max res as its max res is 1440x900 , the rest will suffer a bit i know the gtx 560m can play bf3 at about medium full res or there about.

I recently purchased the Acer 8951G from Rebeltech for R15k.
    Sexy looking and good specs.
    i7 Sandybridge
    8GB RAM
    1TB HDD
    USB 3
18.4" Full HD LED backlit screen
    5.1 sound
    Backlit keyboard

Currently playing MW2 on it at HD res and very smooth. Soon to play MW3, so will let you know how it handles it.
I won't getting BF3 as it blows IMO. I played the demo on console. Lasted 30 minutes then went back to MW2. Called BT Games the next morning and cancelled my pre-order. MW3 however I have on pre-order for both console and PC.

I also get 3 hours (high performance) to 6 hours (balanced) on battery. Never seen this before on a notebook like this.

Also got a sexy brushed aluminum finish.

    Much cheaper.

Look at the alienware series they pretty good.

My advice; do not use a laptop for gaming. It's too expensive, and too complicated and expensive even more to upgrade.

Man up, carry your desktop around.

You want to play BF3? Get a desktop.

In regards to the Acer laptop that was posted up:

In the more-demanding game Far Cry 2, the Acer Aspire Ethos 8951G provided strong frame rates of 62 fps at 1024 x 768 resolution and 37 fps at its native resolution of 1920 x 1080. Those numbers are definitely playable but come up shy of the 81/34 fps category averages. Both the HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition (127/45 fps) and the ASUS G73SW (143/57 fps) fared better.

If you want to play BF3, the processor is not as important as the graphics card.

Processor-wise, it doesn’t really matter. I could pick an AMD FX, an Intel Core i3, or a Core i7 and get the same performance.

If the graphics card can only manage 37fps in Farcry 2, BF3 will break it over it's knee.

Just get a gaming desktop PC for like R12k and then buy a cheap laptop if you need something to carry around.

I've recently been to a LAN where 80% of my friends pitched up with laptops, and almost all of them had poor framerates, and they had no way of competing against the few of us who had decent gaming desktop PC's.

Is there a very good reason why it has to be a laptop?

I am a dev and often mobile so have moved from PC's to decent spec notebooks.
Not as ideal as my old desktop but at least I can play wherever and whenever I feel like it.

At home, I play XBox. Simple and just works. I sometimes play PC at home but preference is my console.
