I am a big noob in rooting devices. Is there anybody who can put me in the right direction in rooting the Note? But yes, the manual or instructions must be spot on please?

Anybody out there who is very patient in helping me?
This is what I postes a few pages back:

    My method of Rooting

I root the device using Chainfire's method of flashing a particular stock firmware with Odin, in that particular instance it won't increase your flash counter as well. I find this the easiest most worrisome free method of rooting the Note. Go halfway down page and read this paragraph "1.3. If you are not rooted yet: Flash a modified FACTORYFS". Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1331784

If you go that page, all the instructions should be very clear (though it is scary in the beginning). Don't flash until you are absolutely certain, check back with us to double check your procedure, whichever one you happen to choose. Don't worry about asking us what may feel like 'dumb' questions.

Nope.... That is why I'm looking to root my device. Much faster than waiting than Samsung....

I had enough of waiting for the OTA to come through and finally went through the process of rooting and then installing a custom rom. Im so Glad I did it, it's made the world of difference and now running latest ics - 4.0.4. Battery life seems to be alot better and much faster UI. I'll wait for a stable JB release before updating, but overall Im very happy at the moment.

Steps I took to get ICS:
Make sure to have samsung kies (for the samsung drivers) installed on Pc + check unknown sources on your note(under applications) and usb debugging (under developement options)
Downloaded the Got Brickbug .apk to see if my note was affected by the emmc flashbug (which it was):
Downloaded emmc safe kernel - AbyssNotekernel42

Watch the following youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehXcn...e_gdata_player
Very informative and check comments field for link to get Odin and the non-wipe GB rom, I used the Europe version. Follow the instructions carefully (quite easy) to root your Note. Then follow the YouTube posters - subsequent videos aswell (shown at the end of the video) regarding flashing AbyssKernel and also how to flash a rom.

Rewatch the videos if necessary to make sure that your on the right path.

Have a look at Rootgalaxynote.com to see the differences between roms or check the development section under the N7000 Note to select the best Rom for you. I chose ParanoidAndroid's rom v0.5 because you can swap between tablet or phone mode (dpi settigs) or you can even change individual apps dpi settings. Best part is you can set it to display tablet youtube version and two-plane gmail tablet view (folders on the left, emails on the right)

Good luck with your rooting/rom flashing. Make sure to have an SD card pligged in, backup and store the necessary roms and other files on it. Oh and I installed Mobile Odin (paid app) for the kernel flashing, makes it alot easier

    CM10 - Jelly Bean - Preview.

Just finished flashing now and busy restoring apps via Titanium Backup.
There are issues but from what I can pickup in the thread they can be dealt with.

Biggest blow here is no Butter yet. Running CM10 on my HD2, Asus Transformer and Galaxy Tab 10.1 and going to miss Butter. It will come though. I just know it will

Can't help myself. I was on the verge of trading my Note for a Nexus purely so I can get updates faster. It's a problem. I know.

Only real prob I have encountered so far is A2DP is not working. This is a bummer cause I love waking up to MP3 in the AM via my Philip bluetooth dock. Tomorrow AM gonna be cr@p having to listen to music via the phone speaker.

I installed it earlier but haven't had a real chance to play around with it. Seems smooth enough transition wise though. Installed only a few apps through titanium and all seem to be working nicely.

I still have the same problem I had with CM9 though and the external SD. I can't access it through a file explorer if I click on 'external_SD, even though it is there and accessible through emmc. The pictures show on the gallery, the music available in the player etc. But no luck trying to browse or copy unless I access through the emmc link.

    Anyone else got this?

Ye. Just go via emmc. I adjusted to this as the new norm.

In CM10 the root is /extSdCard.
