How is this for maxing out a 1mbps modem?

Agreed with Bursty-dude, after all this commotion, how did the problem resolve itself?

Just did a speed test 00:00 21 November 2011 and I really really got no idea why its so bad. There should be no heavy traffic on the tower/s

All the towers have RF based backhauls except for about 30 sites on fibre. So if there is a storm sweeping the area changes are that there could be backhaul issues being experienced. Check on WeatherSA.
My speed tests were done 2 hours from each other ... one gives me 1.01mbps, other 0.11mbps ... that is a 900kbps difference in 2 hours. On a day where there wasn't any storms/clouds. And there has never been a problem like this with the weather in the past. (it would maybe go down to 600kbps)
Most people get shaped to 128kbps after their capped is reached. So to get less than that speed on a normal service is not acceptable.
Currently I don't think I'll be able to use all my allocated data in a month even if I tried. (just because of the crappy speed)

I got better speeds during heavy thunderstorms here in Pta than the current speeds during the day with clear skies......
Used to easily get close to 2mbps during storms, but now it is just over 1Mbps if we are lucky during the day.
Does iBurst use dail-up modems in the towers around me?

We have put a fibre into Centurion and are completing maintenance work to use it as an aggregation point for RF links in the area. This will result in Pta having less RF hops than previously. The maintenance work should be completed by the holidays (or the techies don't go on holiday!)
Come on............
I am getting very impatient with this BS now. Please fix whatever needs fixing so we can get decent speeds again.
Ronald, whereabouts are these techies working on the problem?
I wanna go visit them and take a whip with![]()
Technician were here last night speed before technician a few days ago http://www.speedtest.net/result/1605727447.png and the speed today http://www.speedtest.net/result/1611457621.png. Technician discovered my cable to the antenna had a bad spot on it but not affecting my signal strength/quality. He tried a different antenna/cable/modem/directions and got the same crappy speeds that I got. He said this is probably a crappy area as I'm higher than most towers and the towers in the area are overloaded.
Please iBurst sort out the towers here and/or put up more towers in the area.
