Question ADVICE ON RESTORING DATA FROM 8520 OS.5 TO BBOLD TOUCH 9900?

Hi guys just received my BOLD TOUCH 9900 and would like to know or have any good advice on restoring all my data.
All of which has been backed up with DESKTOP MANAGER(still using the old one that came with cd).
So would i still have all my data restored properly with Operating system 7?
Ive'd thought on re-installing the latest DM ofcourse, but how are all my messages and settings going to be available?
would it work? dont want to just try, rather ask for any advice, thanx.

After you did the device switch or before the switch.

Everything sorted thanx ;-), but i see i can upgrade my bbm.
I currently have the one where you couldn't see who's playing music, if i upgrade, would it erase all my contacts or what?

No it won't erase if you upgrade normally through the desktop manager. There's also leaked firmwares out sometimes. Check www.bbrocks.com. You can even that the international released firmware that's now out in sa yet. But install bb protect on you bb. It backs ups your contacts, etc to the cloud And it has other features as well.
