You are correct, they are totally different.
The Rassberry PI project is intended to get young minds active and interested in the ICT sector again (in the UK).
It's basically a low cost SBC (single board computer) or to quote the organisation
The purpose of the project is to push these single boards computers into schools and tertiary centers in the UK in the hope of resurrecting interest in the ICT sector.An ARM GNU/Linux box for $25. Take a byte!
