Having driven a 125cc go-kart before I can only agree.
On a side note that thing scared the living bejesus out of me but at the same time it was probably the most fun as well.

I recon subaru & toyota have a winner on their hands here.

I could literally shoot myself if i hear another person moan about how it's only a 2.0L, it's an N/A car, why make a sports car in those specs.. blah blah blah.. Subaru/Toyota wanted, as Chris Harris says, a car that looks at the driver, and makes driving fun again!

You dont need to be Michael Schumacher to get it around a corner at high speed. It's composed, it handles well and i can guarantee you will have more fun driving this than any Porsche or Ferrari. Note the word "FUN''!

    Thats just my 2c anyway
    Precisely!!

I posted the below in another 86 thread and only saw this thread now. This one seems much more civilised so I'm posting here as well

I was shown an 86 with an upgraded DVD navigation system (I think the sales person called it an "Option One" or something like that). It was fitted with a rear-view camera, an iPod dock connection in the glove box and a small microphone above the mirror.

Does anyone here have any more information about this system? The correct name would be a great start LOL. On my Offer to Purchase it just states “Navigation System – R15,000.

I’m trying to find out what mapping system it’s using (Garmap or something else) and will I be able to record where I’ve been and will I be able to download the tracks to my PC (for billing and SARS use).

There seems to be a ton of other Double-DIN DVD systems out there ranging from R3,000 to R18,000. R15,000 sounds like a lot for this system since it looked kind of flimsy, e.g. the one I was shown was installed on Friday and yesterday it was already broken, the face didn’t want to close properly after opening. The reverse camera and microphone also looked very flimsy. The picture from the camera was not so bad though.

If its the same system as in the current hilux. . . Navigation doesnt work. . At all. Reverse camera is very nice. Works well in my DC. The radio has got USB, but sometimes the sound just goes away on long journeys. I saw how they reset the system, so if it happens I just do that. It seems to be a factory problem on the hilux's. Just ask if its the same aystem as in the Hilux.

As far as I know it is NOT the same as the Hilux one, but we are all guessing here, as nobody has seen the final thing yet.

We have been offered a great system by MotorOne - (WorldMark) - beautiful looking system. I'll have to dig through my emails for prices.

    OK here it is:

    TOYOTA APPROVED - TOUCH-SCREEN

    RADIO/NAVIGATION/BLUETOOTH/USB/SD CARD/IPOD/RVCAMERA

Cost is R 12 882 to US, 3 year guarantee

If it is not the same then very good. You do get way better systems than the standard one in the Hilux. I am p***ed off that my one does not play any form of DVD or video files. Anybody knows if it can be upgraded or something?
