    Agreed.

There is only 2 reasons why RIM is on the top of the game in SA:

    1. BBM
    2. BIS

The phones are all overpriced, and Android has better apps than them.

Those are enough reasons. Donner, why does it bother so many of you that South Africans place the most weight on Cheap connectivity and a Reliable Instant Messenger when choosing a phone to buy. I'm sorry that I'm not impressed by 300000 apps on my phone or (place android/iphone feature here that bb does not have), but if that bothers you, you need to get a life.

Its about Data Costs and nothing else...

Give other phones decent data costs and BB will fade away. BB10 is also the worst mistake ever as they now dropped BES in favor of Microsoft Active Sync... I mean come on you sticking it to the people that made you famous for something that all your competitors have.

    Whatsapp does the same thing.
And this is the bottom line.

This is just confirmation bias, if you look at the numbers RIM is dead in the water.

The only thing I read from some of the comments above is insecurity about how good your precious little Android device is, and your deep founded hate for BlackBerry and how you want it to die a slow and painfull death(some want it quick and swift though). Make no mistake, I'm also impressed with Android and would love to own one one day with all it's little features and ring dings.

Yes maybe in a year or two BlackBerry might dwindle and fade away into oblivion, but for now until that year or two has passed and until the cost of data has come down so that it's feasible to let some third party application run and chow data(not that I'm saying BBM, Edomondo and other usefull application doesn't chow data, but it doesn't cost you more), I'll just be sticking to the Blackberry. I'm using a Curve 9300, it's battery lasts me on average 3 days, though I'm not a heavy phone user, and the features it offers are just enough to help me get along.

Someone once said, it's no use having something that can do everything but do it half assed, when you can have something that can do little but do it well.

I've been using a BB for longer than most but the degradation in Vodacom's provision of BIS has got me looking for a new phone and a new network provider.

POS phone. Its basically a Stainless Steel Bold 9900 and it sells for $2000.
It is supposed to be special because Porsche designed it.

First they hook you with a cheaper BB contract and then they throttle you with BIS towards Android and iPhone where the data consumption = higher income. What I experienced with MTN.

Never doubted that was their M.O. for a second, but I'll be damned if I use vodacom's network when I switch.

As far as I'm concerned if I have to rely on wifi at home to do what I need to do then I might as well be using an iPhone.

I get the impression BIS is WAY over subscribed and that the problems around RIM prevents companies from making investments to upgrade their systems.

    BlackBerry will not survive 2012.

Someone will buy them this year.

I have no particular interest at in Blackberry but will get one simply to be able to use BBM with the rest of my family and friends and ALL of my work colleagues. In my circles Blackberry is ALL about BBM which EVERYONE uses and nobody uses whatsapp or any other messaging apps. Since I can't use BBM on any other device I have no choice but to get BB.
