No idea, the lady was the manager of the bank if I remember correctly, so I just took it at face value. I wasn't paying all that much attention anyway because it's not something I'm interested in.

Takealot lets you use debit card. You can even do cash in delivery if you're an og.

I have just spoken with Eastgate Capitec in Joburg. This is where I opened my account. They have the new cards. YAY! Gonna go and get my new card after work.

I am a bit confused though...they say they have the cards and I will get it immediately....so they not gonna emboss my name like they do with cheque card by the sounds of it. How does this get used for online shopping then????
Now why you loer en kyk gelyk?

    That's awesome news!!!

Can't wait for them to come to Durban! Let me know if your name gets embossed and if you can use it online. That's what I need most!

When you open an account they give you a card immediately, so why would this be different?

I just thought that it would be like the Nedbank pin & chip cheque cards where it has the chip and the card number and your name is embossed into the card. When you shop online or order a pizza on the phone they take a imprint of your card when they deliver. So with this card...when you shop online or order a pizza...how they going to take a imprint? Thats all I was wondering.
Now why you loer en kyk gelyk?

You don't need to emboss the card. As long as the card as a Card Number, Expiry Date, & CVV, it can be used for online shopping.
Btw, No one should be taking an imprint of your card... That is how fraud occurs. Never ever ever let anyone take the imprint.

I have never had an issue using my chip debit Mastercard at toll gates (with Nedbank) surely then Capitec shouldnt either?

Really? When I was working in the shop we had to take a imprint of the card on the machine slip, especially with big amounts in case the customer logs a dispute with the bank. It is then used to prove that we had the physical card with us when we did the sale.

went there just after 5pm, took me 15min to upgrade the old card to the new debit mastercard, they imprint your name on the card at the branch, though it does not stand out like a normal credit card , does have an expire date and cvc code on it.

The banck charges is the same , you use your savings account money on this card, they destroy the old card.

very impressed with the service was so quick to get it done, and that all after 5pm , take that steve!

They are only doing it in PE on Friday, contrary to what the idiot on the phone told me.

The consultant also seemed utterly flabbergasted that I knew about it.
