I have set mine to only notify me of amounts R500.00 or greater. Constantly getting SMS's for this and also having to pay for it would just irritate me.

She pais like a minimum of R300.00 per month for a so called platinum account + supposed private banker included but she still gets treated like a dog and basically had to go on her knees and beg for the extra R80 000.00 that she has pre-approved with her bond application. The cow at ABSA said no, she needs to do the renovations first and then they will send someone out to come and have a look and check that it is actually worth the amount of money that she wanted extra ontop of her bond. She was like WTF!!!!! I dont have the money to do the renovations...hence why I applied for the extra bit on my bond and you fcking guys said it is 100%...when I am ready to start with the renovations I must let you know and you will release the money...now this CRAP! She then phoned the home loans head office...and the guy she spoke to there and he said he does not know what this woman is going on about...but the money should be released. So my sister phones back the woman at the branch that is doing this for her...and she goes...NO...The guy does not know what he is talking about...RENOVATIONS FIRST...then we will give you the money!

My then ended up having to take out a personal loan to cover it at a much higer interest...so hopefully when the renovations is done...and they release this extra dosh on the bond...she can clear the personal loan with the higher interest rate.

Together with all the IB outages etc she has now just had enough. Said ABSA can take their shiny Platinum card that means jack fcking sh*t and shove it up their verkrampte holle! hahahahaha.

Just hope she sticks to her guns and goes with Capitec. heheheheh.
I recently moved over from crAPSA to Capitec, and the funny thing is I can still do everything I used to, but it costs me about R30 per month in fees. Tell her to move, it is the only way that her banking experience will improve.

Don't know what the situation is like now, my FNB Debit Card is Chipped and my Bidvest Debit Card is not. However, I can transact online with both and have not had issued with either. Although I think FNB's rates are cheaper than Bidvest's if you purchase in US$

Something weird guys. I have had my new chip card declined twice now by two different outlets. First time was at Mc Donalds and second time was this morning when paying for tank of petrol @ Caltex. Thankfully they had a ATM so I could go and draw money. Card works fine at other places though like Checkers and P&P. Have any of you had any problems????

I've only used my new card once - at an Engen. Worked perfectly. Did they use the chip or swipe at the Caltex?

On phone with them now. Logging a complaint/query for them to investigate it to see if there is a problem somewhere.

macdonalds declined mine, worked at pick and pay.

engen accepts my credit card with a chip, they should accept this also. (caltex not sure if they have the same system, i normally go pay petrol inside at the mini shop)

At this Caltex that I always use (around the cnr from my house)...they always used accept my old Capitec card. They have those portable machines that they just bring to your car. Never had one declined transaction with the old card. Now with the new one I have had two in two weeks for no good reason.

I have called their help line and logged a complaint and query. The very friendly lady said she will send a request to their IT guys to investigate and if need be they will send it through to MasterCard for investigation. Said they should be able to track the declined transactions on my card and look into it.

Oh crap...so what...untill the outlets that have this problem decides to update their software we gonna have this problem? Surely MasterCard South Africa should be sending out a communication to all merchants and card machine vendors to update software?

Just got a SMS from Capitec saying that this is a known issue that is in hand with Nedbank as it is Nedbank terminals doing this. I cant be sure...but I could have sworn the terminals inside the Caltex shop is ABSA..but perhaps I was mistaken.

I just hope it gets resolved soon....cause it is going to be a pain in the bum.

Also had this problem at Caltex. Old card worked fine but new card got declined. Luckly I had enough cash with me.
I have gone to find myself. If you see me before I return, please tell me to wait.

Please log a complaint also with Capitec. The more people complain the quicker it will be solved.

So I went and changed my card for the new chipped card. The process was quick and simple.

A couple of hours later I bought a game off Steam as well as verified my card on PayPal. Also very quick.

Very happy to be with Capitec.
