I'm staying in an area without ADSL at the moment, and only vodacom reception. I'm not sure what I'll do if there isn't another appropriately priced special (R50 a GB at the most?), paying almost R200 a GB is completely insane.

But you also need to understand why promotions are run and why the 20GB Pre-paid promo was a pretty special beast.
Promos are created to achieve a certain goal where both parties gain. For example, a 24-month contract promotion gives the network an assured income and for your commitment you get a lower price. Promos also aim to cover as large an audience as possible, so more typical bundle sizes would normally be offered.
The 20GB special gave a massive bundle at a reasonable price and asked for nothing in return, no contract period, etc.
Essentially it was really just a big give away. And to a very specific market segment, i.e. you guys.
still though, the point of it was "using bandwidth that would have been wasted" as most people were swimming at the beach instead of downloading "Linux distro's"
- vodacom wins as people buy data in the holiday season and actually make use of the "pipes", instead of it going to waste.
- people are happy to get the vodacom special and data, so they win too.
- and when people are happy, vodacom gets a better name and wins a second time.
what im saying is, why don't you run a few more specials every now and again.... even if they aren't THAT big.

Loved the promo, it brought me many hours of BF3 with very good latency.
Vodacom did what any good Nigerian drug dealer worth his salt would do. Offer the junkies cheap drugs a couple times to get them hooked to new, previously unaffordable highs. Now that you are used to mainlining 10Gigs a month they got you by the short and curlies... Amazing how this type of BS isn't illegal.
And I might just add... since Feb 1 I've noticed that my previously fast connection diverts to 3G 80% of the time... Just so I can't use up my whole bundle by the end of the month. The biggest conjob ever.
Ah, so offering specials is bad? right......
