Thread: Telkom (SAIX) International down?

  1. #1

    Question Telkom (SAIX) International down?

Anyone else finding that their SAIX account can't connect internationally today (1 Feb)? I can browse local sites, but it just times out internationally.

    Here's a quick tracert to bbc.co.uk:

    tracert bbc.co.uk

    Tracing route to bbc.co.uk [212.58.241.131]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

    1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms DD-WRT [192.168.1.1]
    2 11 ms 11 ms 10 ms dsl-146-0-01.telkomadsl.co.za [41.146.0.1]

I've now had to switch to my Afrihost (IS) account, which is working perfectly fine. Sigh, so much for using those extra GBs they're supposed to be throwing in :P

Hmm. I did try reset my router, and no change. I guess I'll try again later today, and hopefully they'll have it sorted out by then. Thanks for the reply.

Resetting modem made no difference. Spoke to Telkom but they were clueless - insists that the problem is on my side.

I did restart my modem a few times. Don't know if that is it.

Before I also phoned Telkom and the guy said that they often have this problem on the 1'st of the month. But after resetting the modem and him "resetting my account", it still did not work. Then he suggested that I reenter my username and password on the modem. (I did not do that because that made no sense.) So he transferred me to "the internet department" - which I learned was code for "I give up".

But as I said, the problem sorted itself out after I restarted the modem a few more times.

ok I will try one more time and unplug everything. There were occasions when I had to reset the modem for the new month but this has only happened a handful of times in the last 9/10 years or so. I wonder if it has any connection to the upgrade of the adsl accounts although a few people have mentioned a downed cable somewhere.
