Introducing Chrome for Android Beta

I tested it, and discarded it, no Desktop mode - most of my sites work better with this.

The standard browser, as well as Dolphin HD crash all the time, especially with MBB.

IMO the only reliable browser for ICS is Opera, and it also works better than the others.

Dolphin has never ever crashed on my phone, before and after ICS

One thing that I haven't been able to figure out: all the other browsers are less than 5MB. Why on earth is Chrome 20MB - even now that it's out of beta?

I'll stick with the stock ICS browser or Dolphin HD at this stage.

A serious question: unless you have a phone with limited internal storage (in which case my heart goes out to you - I used to have an HTC Desire) why does this matter?

To my mind, the most important thing is the user experience. On my phone, Chrome is beautiful and smooth and fast, the tab management is weirdly fun, and the tab syncing is flawless. I care more about that stuff than I do about the size of the apk package.

Define Every, Dolphin is 4mb, Chrome is 18mb, Firefox is 14mb, Opera is 14mb.
I fail to understand your "all other" and "less than 5mb" only one browser that should actually be considered a browser is under 5mb.

Also the only real reason to care is caused by the lousy internet provided in this country, when you live in a country with 40mb broadband the difference between a 5mb browser and a 20mb browser in indiscernible by an actual human being.

I tired chrome and the beta's where lousy, but the latest one has been some what impressive, I would almost consider changing from dolphin is it was not for xmarks and lastpass which I use quite often. I like the convenience of saving my passwords but directly in the browser is too insecure, when extensions come out for chrome which probably won't be too long then I will re-evaluate. Also I do not like the lack of exit button, I do not spend a justifiable enough amount of time to have my browser constantly wasting memory and other resources being a background/cached task, no matter how small it may be.

Okay, I must admit that LastPass is a problem. I use LastPass on the desktop and I also struggle on mobile because I tend to have randomly generated passwords for each site. Last time I tried FF it was much smaller (but does anyone in their right mind actually use FF for Android?). Opera mini and Dolphin mini are under 1MB, Skyfire under 2MB, ICS Browser + is under 3MB, etc.

All I'm getting at what is in Chrome that makes it so huge (btw, yesterday's update is 19.84MB)? When I see Android programs this size I think Kindle for Android: what is hiding in it?

They broke it with the latest update, Chrome is set to default browser and now when I click on links it freezes on opening, I have to force close, then open Chrome manually and then click on the link.

Personally, I feel Dolphin mini is better than Dolphin HD, the only advantage of HD is the desktop toggle addon. I dislike the Opera interface with a passion and I really don't like the Chrome desktop interface enough to even think of downloading the Android version - I'll wait until Google force me to download it with their next OS release.

Just read over on the LP forums, seems google was a bunch of #icks with this one, chrome mobile does not support extensions, so somethin like lastpass cannot work, at least until google allows extensions. No matter how nice the UI thats a deal breaker for me, besides the next dolphin release has an awesome new engine. The new engine from what I read makes it the most html5 ready/complient browser for mobiles OR desktops scoring a 450+ depending on device, I tested the latest ff, chrome, opera and evn IE on desktop and none of them even made it to 400. Obviously things like overall speed and performance are being improved on as well.

Checked out mine, not a fan of the ui and there are quite a few feature differences between them, as for opera, its ui has always been disgusting, retarted and more complicated than anything else. People use it for its pathetic compression feature which essentially just messes websites up and destroys any browsing experience.
