Thread: Fourways/Randburg area reception

  1. #1

    Default Fourways/Randburg area reception

    Hi guys

Would persons living in these areas please be so kind as to post their speedtest results in this thread? Seems from the posts I've read that people in these areas are struggling with decent speeds.

I stay in Craigavon and even though I am covered by the coverage map, I rarely get download speeds in excess of 1.5mbps.

Also lodged a query with 8ta and received the following response:
"Kindly be advised that Networking has just confirmed that there is poor coverage in the area(-26.01233 27.990166). Planned site will improve coverage: GC_Fourways_Life_Hospital_COW. They could not commit as when exactly it will be on air."

To 8ta I ask, why is the area shown as covered when you guys know it is a poor coverage area?

I will definitely do that. To be honest I don't care what the reasons for the slow speeds are, a service was promised and now I am not receiving that service.

Just tried speedtest again and got 5mbps, guess it varies, some days I get terrible speed.

Lets say 95% of the time I get good speed, even in stormy weather its good.

Unfortunately I'm not sure. Opensignal doesn't have the 8ta towers and I haven't physically seen it either. My signal isn't great, however, but the speed is a minimum of 7Mbps.

I am thinking of getting the 8ta 10 gig deal but am worried about the speed I will get in Kent Avenue which is in Ferndale, Randburg. Is there anyone around me who already has a 8ta connection and if so can you please tell me what is the average speed you get?

    Hi XTRMNTR!

You are welcome to try our prepaid service which will allow you to test the 8ta network. Once you have the 8ta service, you can test our network by manually choosing to connect to 8ta's network and you will be able to check the coverage and average speeds etc.

So after a few good weeks, my connection is worse than ever. Yesterday and today I can only get EDGE, used to get excellent signal all the time. Can't even browse the web. What's happening?
