good news, so 95% can have 384Kbps that gov defines as broadband :-)
well, as long as there's a goal there is hope! better coverage and usage can only benefit us all

Not "reinventing the wheel" GAUTENG'S broadband project, variously known as Gauteng Link (G Link) or Blue Umbrella, is not a R35 billion attempt to reinvent the wheel, says premier Mbhazima Shilowa. Rather, it is a measured move to integrate existing private and public networks to the benefit of all.

Wow. All the politicians are suddenly competing and making promises of broadband.
We're all running on caveman software...
My latest threads
Surely we're 100% covered by 3G and everything else?
If they're talking ADSL, I seriously doubt they'll achieve 95%.
I got my first ADSL about 6 years back after months of waiting and fightning to get it installed due to backlogs etc. Fast forward to 2012, fixed lines have DROPPED and all the issues are still there.
In fact, I can't even get ADSL and I'm in an established part of JHB
Remember Broadband is 20 meg... so get cracking.

So they realized they could use their fiber in 1999. Six years later they has this article. And not it is 7 years later once again. So 13 years of wasted opportunity.Kuun says about six years ago the municipality realised the infrastructure could be used as a medium for data communication and that it was sitting on an asset of great value, but this remained a well- kept secret because of Telkom’s monopoly.

ROFL I'm sure this statement is in response to the DA statement last week. Don't they realise yet that you actually are supposed to do the things you say you will be doing, you can't simply say things because it sounds good. oh wait....

Skerminkel's rules for the evaluation of politicians' promises:
1. Any promise without the name of the person who will resign when the promise does not realise will not realise.
2. The probability of success of the promise increases proportionally with the level of seniority of the person named in (1), until it reaches the first political appointee. From there it decreases proportionally to zero for the president of the day.
