Powerless in Pretoria

This massive storm broke out over Pretoria this afternoon sending eveything into chaos. I work in the Moot and as I was working the storm broke out and one of the lightning crashes knocked out the power in the entire area. So I was sent home early. I stay in Erasmuskloof which is all the way on the other side of the city. Got on the highway, excited to go home, only to realise all the power from Menlyn to past Elarduspark was knocked out as well. Sigh. And the highway looked like an apocalyptic nightmare.

Update: New storm coming down now. Much of Centurion out of power as well! Holy crap.

Mamelodi also out apparently according to a friend of mine working at the Tukkies campus there, and Erasmuskloof where I live everything is out. This might be a while before they fix it!

While I sincerely hope that this gets sorted asap, I can only thank you guys up in PTA for proactively reducing consumption to alleviate pressure on Eskoms electricity distribution. Hopefully it'll prevent some rolling blackouts for us CTians
