We use Rentmaster for the financial side of our property letting. They insist on receipts from us for any damage claims, and pay out balance of the deposit with interest well within the legal periods.

Personally as a Landlord, I steer clear of Agents.

I won my case last week and my land-lady was ordered to pay within 7 works (sic) days.

    I've insisted...

Just Letting are the only ones who resisted, and they kept promising to send me a breakdown of deductions, which they never did - then they realised I still had the buildings access cards, needless to say - they called asking for them back, I said sure, when I get the list of deductions. The guy then threatened to bill me for them, I told him to go ahead and try, I have my money already (minus their deductionS)

Surely you'd have to give permission at the beginning of your lease for them to submit your information to them?

TPN sounds EXTREMELY dodgy. There was a similar thing being run by builders in the UK on whether contractors were actually good or not - needless to say it was shut down.

    EDIT:

Trust landlords to use such methods! Cant wait to not have to rent anymore.

Well I am never late with payment nor do I give my Lessor any problems. I am not noisy and I keep my place clean, yet twice now I have had to take steps to have my deposit returned....

You will find that most rental applications have a credit vetting section, same as all credit applications.

Fail to pay a clothing account, get listed.

Fail to pay your rent, get listed.

Don't give permission for credit vetting? Try and rent from someone else, I don't want you.

Yeah but what gives TPN the right to store information on me? I consent to a credit check, on the understand its a check with the national credit bureau or whatever its called. I sure as hell do not give permission for my personal details to be stored in the hands of a private company.

Are TPN a registered credit vetting organisation?

I have always wondered if TPN complies with the constitution. It can be argued that they deny your basic right to housing. The problem is one of their board is a key player at Just Letting and he uses the TPN to maliciously damage the reputations of tenants that have crossed his path.

This appears to say they are:
    NCR Registration Number: NCRCB08

    Still I dont like it.

Maybe us tenants should start a landlord vetting site? Any landlord that is difficult with returning deposits or carrying out needed maintenance, gets a write up. How would they like that, I wonder?

Well then surely you have a right to the information they hold on you?
