    To hijack the thread again,

I found the perfect replacement stand: Trail Tech 5301 http://www.amazon.com/Trail-Tech-530...9616846&sr=8-1

But just my luck, Amazon doesn't ship it to SA. :/ And of course no other bloody vendor in this country stocks it.

Amazon is great for not being able to send to SA, however there are guys in the US who will send it to you if you contact them direct ( just look at who's selling the item and phone them) or look further in the pages of your search and you might find the same item for sale under a slightly different name and they will send it to you then.

I have just got the money to buy my bike so I have had sometime to contemplate what to get. I have test ridden all the bike to consider and I really love the KTM 990, although I'm worried about the advanceness of it and that I might kill myself doing something stupid on it ( damn that thing is fast ) so the BM1200 is looking like an good idea but its HEAVY and pricey, the BMW 800 though I never thought I'd consider looks like a really great bike. It has a low CG and great off-road and still powerful enough. Really I'm going to see what's out there in the next few weeks and I will buy what ever is the best deal.

Have you considered the Triumph Tigers? Probably worth including in your list.

I have, my concerns are that they don't seem the sort of off road kinda bike the KTM or BMW are and the look is a little off putting, lastly they are very rare to find

The looks are obviously dependant on your own personal taste but I think the offroad capabilities are on a par with both the KTM and BMW. Read a very thorough review of the 800 Tiger recently.
