Angry Strike Media - WASPA - and nothing being done.

Are there any alternatives to WASPA?

Strike Media continue to spam me - I've lodged multiple disputes, and yet they continune... I've tried escalating them - and only one was successful regarding porn crap - and then the actual fine imposed was reduced when they appealed.

Even the company that the latest spam message was from said they deleted my details two years ago.

I've given up with WASPA, they're a bunch of toothless numbnuts.

The problem WASPA has is that a year ago all the networks started submitting their complaints through WASPA - it overloaded the system. They went from perhaps a dozen complaints a week to sometimes over 10K a day.

So to be honest, not much you can do.

Then they have no purpose? Whats the point of a regulatory body that doesn't regulate?

Correct - they have become toothless and self regulation needs to be removed.

And yet again they are allowed to get away with it.

Asked for a formal escalation - couple of days latter I get another reply saying its been resolved as Strike Media sent the message in error What next?

When will we have a law protecting us from this harassment?

We do now have a Consumer Protection Act, but, and that's a big but(t),
the Consumer Commission is in as big a disarray as the rest of govt.
WASPA is just a mutual gratification society for the bottom-feeders that
make up SMS direct marketing. Interestingly enough, we have legislation
that protect us against pricing way out of proportion to costs, like, for
instance, SMS messaging, which do not cost the cellular providers anything,
as it's part of the control messaging structure and essentially free. Someone
with enough time and energy could take them to court and arrange refunds
    for us all. Just saying.
