I am surprised that those piggy bank doggies from the gadget shop didn't make the list...

    Default Apple TV

Apple is busy releasing a new Apple TV, so nobody has stock of the 'current' model.

    Prices therefore look artificially inflated.

Kindle is fast becoming a "must-have" item. Two in my house already and there is pressure for more. It just works so damn well.

Do yourself a favour - check eBay - I got my Kindle 3G with leather case for under R1000 shipped to SA.

I also find them expensive. But they are the only option if you can't find it elsewhere and you need to import from the States.

Hi x, mind sharing who you bought from? How long did it take to arrive and how much custom duties did you pay?

Private seller - but he had 100% rating on around 400 items. I have saved search - and have been trying for around two weeks, the auctions usually get snipped while I'm a sleep - but finally won.

Still waiting for it to arrive (only did it this week), but don't expect any problems, can't imagine customs to be more than R100.

Thanks. If customs isn't more than that, then it makes sense to go the eBay route. I'll give it a try.
