I didn't read anything there discussing the process itself. She's basically saying that she'd love to have her in her party as she sees her as an asset with aligned political viewpoints. Not sure how you can start digging negatives into that sort of statement, unless you feel that indoctrination and subservience should play some sort of role...

I think she would be excellent for the position of DA leader.
I think someone in the DA would be a better choice. Like Lindiwe.

The white supporters dislike it for obvious reasons, but the DA policy itself underlies that its needed for transformation. I just dont think the DA like how AA is managed atm.

Yes, just like there was for Lindiwe. While Helen nominated her... the caucuses still vote. As per usual. I wonder if this will go down like the Lindiwe vote. Where most of the white members voted for Lindiwe and most of the black members voted for Athol

Perhaps it just means that they appreciate integrity. Something that cannot be said about the ANC who have all the leaders in feathering their own nests.

In any event, even if the DA did manage to pull someone of her calibre, it would be to no avail because the populist vote does not appear to embrace the notions of the old guard, only the venal grasping of the new order.

You mean like the process at an ANC National Conference where ~4000 ANC members effectively vote for the next president of the country? I can see how that is much more democratic.

We need more NGOs like hers, OUTA, Section 27, etc who can take the government to court (if necessary), other than just scoring political points.

    Effectively, but not undemocratically.

DA need a foothold in Soweto, Khayalitsha etc. I wonder what the vote would look like if you broke it down to votes received vs education and vs income. I have a feeling you would see a huge disparity between the DA and ANC voter base. DA being mainly educated and of middle class and up vs ANC being not highly educated and middle to lower class.

Anyway, in the grand scheme of things democracy still remains the system where two idiots can over rule a genius.
