Also try forcing your handset to stay on 2G. Let me know what handset and I will tell you how.

Chief Executive of the WIOCC, Chris Wood, told the reporters that the company already sent a ship to the site to restore the problem on the network.

According to Chris the fault should be fixed within the next two days.

According to iBurst's website incedent report page:

"Following the EASSy cable disruptions detected between Djibouti and Port Sudan, which carries a proportion of our international Internet traffic, subscribers might face some inconsistency with Internet speed."

Any video streaming site (Youtube, Vimeo, etc) are all slower than an overloaded Tata going up a hill.
Most videos do not even load, never mind being able to watch a vid even at 240p.....
Tried to watch a 3 minute video this morning and gave up 2 hours later as the vid had not even buffered yet.

Speedtest.net does not even load properly either, so trying to do a speed test will take around half an hour if you are lucky.

Been having terrible speed issues (max 30KB but sometimes as low as 8KB) the last 10 - 15 days but today it seems to be sorted out. Back to the usual speed (70KB - 80KB) I had before the nightmare started.

Youtube is reached by a local IP Transit with Google in Cape Town. It seems like that transit has been impacted by the cable fault. I have logged an issue with them.
