R360 Linux PC: Raspberry Pi pricing change and possible delay

A case would be nice - I'm aiming to plug this in the TV as a "Smart TV"/HTPC option. Other than that, wireless connectivity would be nice. SD cards are not an issue, not sure about power cables. Would they be necessary while plugged into a TV?

I am getting emails keeping me up to date. Though I am not one of the lucky ones yet to order one. I registered with RS Components. who did you register with?

ordered the modmypi one. Now i just need confirmation of actually getting the Pi itself!

eish

Mine is still quite a while off. Still waiting in the queue ... to order!

Don't think you can. If they have not yet invited you to go and order & pay for your pi at their website, you are probably still in the big Q.

WOOHOO, just ordered mine now. To others wondering, I just received this in the mail (I had been receiving the regular updates prior to this, but this little gem pitched up 5 minutes ago):

I ordered the pi and euro power supply (though I have a few lying around, I was too lazy to look for the required Pi rating, so I just ordered their PSU at 5 quid).

@spiderz - so yours took like 3 business days to get to you - that's not bad. When you ordered, did it give you the option to pay in pounds, $ or euro? Just making sure mine will ship from SA cos I registered both on RS UK and SA sites.

also got the activation code this morning, but before I order, I am trying to figure out what accessories to get or even what are available to get?? any suggestions??

Well... it seems they're all available from any of your local vendors (game, hifi corp, incredible ripoff, etc). The power supply was the only possible unknown (it's a mini-usb type) but even that you can get locally once you figure out the power requirements (mA). A regular mini-usb nokia / blackberry charger will likely do the trick.

Spiderz - what are the power requirements of the Pi?

The accessories are just RCA cables, power supply, hdmi cable, LAN flylead, SD card - all locally available. You might want to save yourself effort and get the SD card with the OS already on, but if you are a little tech inclined, you'll be able to DIY i'm sure.

It seems a 700mA micro usb supply is sufficient:

Model B owners using networking and high-current USB peripherals will require a supply which can source 700mA (many phone chargers meet this requirement). Model A owners with powered USB devices will be able to get away with a much lower current capacity (300mA feels like a reasonable safety margin).
