Something like this?

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God."
Linux mint, Cinnamon and VLC I would say.

Try XBMC live
Openelec is a lighweight XBMC Live
where XMBC took Ubuntu and slapped XBMC on it, Openelec took XBMC and built just enough OS under it to make it run on most hardware. Thus its about 8 times smaller than XMBC live.

XBMCbuntu is the new live version of XBMC for Eden. It will be out soon, the beta release is here: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/XBMCbuntu/
MythTV is a bit dated and only really useful if you want to set up live tv.

nothing to see here move along....
Last time I played with MythTV was just after the gnome distros switched to PulseAudio - to say trying to set it up was akin to mud-wrestling with an alligator is a understatement.
Not recommended.
Ubuntu with XBMC or XBMC Live (which is Ubuntu with XBMC, but everything done for you)
